The Jedi Order
A noble order of protectors unified by their ability to tap into the power of the Force, the Jedi Order were the guardians of peace and justice in the Galactic Republic. Headed by a Council of the most honored among the Jedi Masters, the Jedi acted as a police force, diplomatic corp, and law-enforcement task force.
Obeying the orders of the Senate, while at the same time working in close coordination with the Court system, the Jedi were tasked with maintaining peace among the various charter worlds of the Galactic Republic.
The Jedi had access to the strange and mysterious powers of the Force. Through their connection to this mystical energy, they were able to perform many feats beyond those of ordinary citizens. Seeing the future, moving at heightened speeds, leaping great distances, and even having reactions fast enough to block blaster bolts were all powers within the Jedi’s grasp. These feats made them ideal for ferreting out plots and criminal activities, as they were both incredibly intuitive and formidable warriors.
The history of the Jedi Order is one clouded in mystery, dating back many millennia. The Jedi had served in their role of peacekeepers since the days of the Old Republic. They defended the Republic against the Sith Empire, Mandalorian threat, and the Rakatan Empire before finally extinguishing the Sith Empire over a thousand years ago in the aftermath of which the Galactic Republic was created.
